Suspension temporarily hides an already approved event: useful when you need to block sales while waiting for confirmation, correct an urgent error or manage a schedule change without canceling the event. It does not pass through Nightify verification, neither when you suspend nor when you reactivate.
At a glance
- Where: list of live events → row Options menu (three dots) → Pause publication; to reactivate, same menu → Enable publishing.
- Permissions: Manage events.
- When: only for events with Approved status; for drafts and events under review the item does not appear.
- Effect: immediate; in the Visibility column the badge becomes Not published.
Step by step on the website
- Open the list. From the console, open the live events. What do you see: for each event the columns Event name, Created by, Status, Visibility and, with the related permissions, Report and Views; in the Visibility column the badge is Public, Private or Private with password.
- Pause. Press the three dots Options in the row and choose Pause publication. There is no confirmation request. Result: you return to the list and the badge in the Visibility column is replaced by Not Published.
- Reactivate. When you are ready, from the same menu choose Enable publishing. Result: the event goes back online immediately and the original visibility badge reappears (Public, Private or Private with password), without new verification.
What happens during suspension
- The public event page responds as content no longer available (code 410) and is not indexed; the event cannot even be reached from direct links and booking pages.
- The status of the event remains Approved: no new verification is needed to put it back online.
- In the dashboard the status card shows the current status in the Publication line.
- The operation is recorded in the Change history (dashboard tab, permission Consult event log) with Data, User and Operation: suspension appears as disable, reactivation as enable.
Messages and errors
| Message | Why it appears | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Snapshot not updatable. | Updating publish status failed. | Reload the list and try again; if it persists, contact support. |
| The Suspend publication item is not in the menu | The event is not Approved (it is a draft, is being verified or has been rejected). | For a draft there is no need to suspend; for an event under review use Cancel review and return to draft. |
| Your user does not have access to this resource. | Your role does not have Manage events. | Ask an Administrator. |
Special cases
- You want to close sales of just one type. Do not suspend the entire event: in the Add tickets step, set the Status of the title to Sales ended (Active: allows sales according to the set dates and availability. Sales ended: stops the sale without changing the dates. Sold out: shows the title as sold out. Hidden: does not show the title in the channels purchase. The status is applied to save.) and publish the changes.
- You want to permanently cancel the event. Suspension is not a cancellation and does not affect the reservations: the cancellation of the event, with the possible cancellation of reservations and refunds, is carried out by Nightify upon your request to support.
- You have changes in draft. Suspension affects the online version and does not interfere with the snapshot: you can continue to edit and send changes for review even while the event is suspended.
Rules and limits
- Available only for Approved events; the action is immediate and reversible at any time.
- Suspension and reactivation do not undergo verification and do not modify the event data.
- Each suspension and reactivation is recorded in the Change history with date and user.
